Today’s Topic: A Desert Place
Scripture: The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. – Isaiah 35:1–2, NIV

Today’s Word
Experts say that for a desert to see an exceptional bloom of wildflowers, which typically happens only every ten to fifteen years, the conditions have to be just right. The best conditions for a superbloom are a prolonged drought followed by an excessive amount of rain. Both speak of hardship, struggle, damage, and what seems like nothing good, but the dry season and floods make way for the desert to burst into bloom and as Isaiah says, “Shout for joy.” You may be in a desert place right now.

You have things that you don’t understand, people have done you wrong, the promotion didn’t go through, you have a medical problem. You’ll be tempted to complain, get discouraged and bitter. God has not forgotten about you. The drought is a part of His plan. It’s making room for the new things He’s about to do. Stay faithful in the dry season. Yes, the excessive rain is coming and feels like a flood, but seeds of increase, abundance, and new levels are going to take root. A superbloom is coming. Get ready to shout for joy.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for loving me so much that at times You take me into a desert place to refine my character and cause me to blossom. Thank You that You’re getting me prepared for the new things You want to do in my life. I will be faithful in the dry seasons. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

TODAY’S INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: You may be where David was, things have come against you in your health, your finances, your children. You’re tired of fighting. It seems like you’re stuck. God is saying to you what He said to David. He’s about to supercharge your life. He’s about to do something out of the ordinary. He’s not going to let you stay stuck. One version of this passage says, “He fills your life with good things.”

Something good is coming, something unexpected. The reason it’s taking longer is it’s going to be better than you think. It’s going to be more rewarding. When you see what God is up to, it’s going to breathe new life into your spirit, new passion for what’s in front of you. You’re going to feel stronger, more passionate, have greater vision.

Some people’s hidden agenda is to bring trouble, stir you up, turn you against your coworker, get you jealous of your neighbor, critical of your cousin. You don’t have time for that. They don’t have your best interest at heart. That is not a true friend. Their goal is to create chaos, discontentment. When they’re around, there’s always some kind of trouble. But God is not the author of confusion. Your friends shouldn’t drain you, upset you, cause you to get stirred up. True friends bring peace. True friends bring joy. They bring out the best in you.
